CFDocument - Check mark

My database has check boxes in it. When an item is checked in a form, it passes through to the database as a checkbox.
I output some results to a cfdocument and if the field is checked, the number 1 shows up instead of a check mark. An idea how i can get this to show as a checkbox as opposed to the number 1 or 0?

Find yourself (or make) an image of a box for unchecked and one with a check mark in it.

Then simply

<cfif myquery.itemYN eq 1>
<img src="checked.gif">
<cfelse>
<img src="unchecked.gif">
</cfif>
