Hi All,
while MS sings the praises of the new OS there are again problems to solve, as usual.

Just setup a new server and it won't connect and update with WSUS 3.2.7600.226 runnig on SBS 2011.
I have installed the WSUS Service Pack 2 (KB272011)

I have also done this:

:BUILD_REG_FILE
ECHO Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00> %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG
ECHO.>>                                                                          %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG
ECHO [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]>>    %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG
ECHO "AccountDomainSid"=->>                                                     %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG
ECHO "PingID"=->>                                                               %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG
ECHO "SusClientId"=->>                                                          %TEMP%\FIXWSUS.REG

pause
:PROCESS

CMD /C NET START "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" /Y
CMD /C NET START "Automatic Updates" /Y
cmd /c wuauclt.exe /resetauthorization /detectnow
pause

Open in new window

No joy

Attached the error message and WSUS screenshot. As usual there is no help from MS regarding the error message.

I have registered the server with WSUS, strangely it is viewed as Server 2003 by WSUS.

Checking for updates with MS directly does not work either, the message is that is managed by the admin.

When running Windows update, it produce this error in the log.

Hi,

you need this update for WSUS 3 SP2 to recognize & update Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012:

Thanks Rainer, this did the trick.
I checked everywhere but apparently this "patch for the patch" is hard to find.
I don't understand why MS does not update this important info to appear in the error message description.

Let's see what other time wasters pop up.
Thanks again.
