MS Office 2007 corrupted after FBI Trojan

After I removed the FBI Trojan from my PC, MS Office cannot run and the following message pops up whenever I try to run Word or Outlook.

The update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package.

How can it be done without having to reinstall?

Of course you can also try Method 1.

a popup window says to run the installation program again from CD.  Any solution, as I do not have the installation CD with me?

shluong-- Are you working in the "How to repair problems in 2007 Office programs and features that are already installed" section of
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924611  ?

I would not think it is necessary to have to use the CD, certainly not for Method 2.

You should not be working from the "How to install individual 2007 Office features" section.

I used Method 1 and Method 2.  For Method 1, after I open Microsoft Office Diagnostics, the Windows Installer window pops up, and after a few moments this pops up: "the update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package."

On Method 2, The popup window says that "this product installation has been corrupted.  Run setup again from the CD...."

shluong--Regrets.  It look like you will have to reinstall.  Uninstall first.

Be sure to proceed to step 4 to remove Registry entries.
You can use Open Office until you have possession of your MS Office CD.
