Javascript and Internet Explorer 10

I have an Intranet site for a company that solely used Internet Explorer for it.

All was well until Windows 8 and IE 10.  Now, at least, Javascript's Window.Close() does not work...

Anything that I can do as opposed to changing the code?  Is there some setting that I can relax in IE?

I actually fixed the issue by running IE10 in compatibility mode...
