Has anyone gone through the application process for these 2 government certifications? Our company is looking to get these done, just wondering if anyone on this board can offer any advise. Thanks

SBA Cracking Down on 8(a) Applicants Who Lie on Applications

Very long article with many "tips" on how to apply for the 8(a).

In 2013, SBA 8(a) applicants should bear the following in mind:
1. Make sure your company truly is small before you apply to the 8(a) program
2. In addition to the obvious tactics of being honest and not submitting lies within your 8(a) application paperwork, you should also focus on being as accurate as possible in your 8(a) paperwork.
3. Ignore people who got 8(a) certified 10 years ago and tell you the 8(a) application process is fast and easy.

Prepare for 8a Certification in 2013 ..........

I have not found any free advice or tips on GSA.
But, here is an article that explains why it is difficult. So, it gives you a "heads up" on what to expect in the way of difficult areas.

Why is preparing the GSA Schedule offer so difficult?
a. GSA Schedule Requests for Proposals (RFPs) are often poorly organized and even more poorly written.
b. RFPs do not fully outline what GSA is looking for in your offer. It takes a significant amount of interpretation on the reader's part to understand GSA's proposal requirements.
c.  It is problematic to separate the wheat from the chaff. In other words, it is difficult to discern which of the proposal's clauses are more critical and which are less so.
d.  Although each proposal lists a person within GSA to whom telephone inquiries may be directed, it is often impossible to get the contact on the phone. If you are successful in this endeavor, the responses to your questions are often vague and too general in nature.
