Sudden increase in spam false positives

Hi all,

Since Thursday 3rd January many of my clients have seen a huge and sudden overnight increase in the number of spam false positives - regular correspondants mails are to be found in the junk folder. Same happened to me. Also other IT guys I know have reported the same thing with their clients, started the same day. Only way they fixed theirs is to disable the junk folder - PERIOD.

Any ideas what the cause could be?

More information please.

What version exchange.
What third party spam filters you may have in place.
What spam filters you have set on your server.

Hi Andrew,

thanks for responding. Exchange 2007/2010, I have disabled Exchanges builtin intelligent mail filter on one client as a test and no change. I am now leaning to think it is Trend Micro's Messaging Security Agent which runs on the Exchange machines. This is on all my clients machines so is a common factor. Yesterday I disabled it on the same client whose IMF is disabled and have removed Trend Micro completely from my own server.

Waiting to see how this pans out. I will post how it goes.

Andrew,
Well no more spam false positives since I disabled Trend Micros Messagung Security Agent - hardly ideal as now we are getting more viruses at the desktops. No news of a fix from TM that I can see.
I give you some points as you mentioned checking for third party filters .
