Sharepoint 2013 connect to outlook

I have created a new sharepoint server and site and also created a new Calendar.  My Connect to outlook is greyed out and can't figure out where to enable this feature.  If I mouse over the icon it say that this control is currently disabled.  Please help or advice on where to enable this feature.  This is also a sharepoint 2013 application.

I logged into our workstation that has outlook installed on it and the option for "Connect to Outlook" is greyed out.  I can't find a way to enable this feature.  This is for a Calendar List.  I have attached a screenshot of the greyed out button.

This led me in the right direction but found out that this only happened with Office 2007 and below and not with any computer that had Office 2010 on them.  Once I put Office 2010 on these computer the greyed out box became active and worked.  I hope this helps anyone else that is moving to 2013.
