Is there a way to disable windows search for a group of users but not another on the same computer?
I know you can remove the windows search feature but this remove search for all users.

Then if you could try to apply GPO for such users and windows search could be disabled only for them

There is no GPO for this in windows 7 that I can find, all the remove\disable\turn off search policies are enabled under windows explorer and start menu and taskbar.

I have tried using a logon and logoff script to start and stop search but it doesn't stop on logoff and the search boxes are still there. We would prefer the boxes were gone all together for those users.
I have updated our search.admx file which gave me more options to lock down the search but again I would prefer removing the boxes altogether.
