Search Multiple Crystal Reports for Field reference

Hi EE,

We have had a major change in our system and i need to find where a particular field is referenced in over 200+ crystal reports and i was wondering if there was a way that i could search and find all reports that had this reference and output to a text file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Ross

THere is nothing built into Crystal that will do this.

You can find some report management tools which sound relevant at the link below.
I haven't used any of them.

There is no way to do this in CR 10 (the version I've used).  CR itself didn't have a feature like that, and the RPT files themselves are encrypted or something, so you can't just search them for field names.  I haven't used the more recent versions of CR, so I can't say for sure whether it's possible with any of them.  I rather doubt it, since it wasn't possible in the past, but I really don't know.  Hopefully someone else can answer that.

There are third-party "report management" tools and some of them might let you do that.  You can find some listed here:

Agree with the above.  I hadn't looked at an RPT file in a while so I looked at a couple in Notepad.  There is very little that can be deciphered and what can is not useful for your purpose.

The tools linked above are probably your best bet.
