Report footer does not export to excel but does when exporting to PDF

Does anyone know why this may be? SSRS 2008 matrix report.

The footer is actually exported as well, it's just not visible in the default view when you open the sheet.

To view the footer, open the file in Excel and then change the view by clicking the Page Layout button in the View ribbon (Excel 2007).
