sbs2011 server losing e-mail reception

We have a single SBS2011 server running exchange. Every few weeks we seem to lose our e-mail reception.

A restart does not resolve this consistently, but when we restart the transport service from within task manager, it resolves the problem straight away.

We cannot restart the transport service from the services console, as it reports that it has not responded in a timely fashion. The restart from within Task Manager is the only thing that kills it.

Does anyone have any suggestions what we can do to prevent this from happening, as we dont always notice straight away that our e-mail has stopped working.

We have AVG E-mail server edition running.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Make sure your exchange installation folder and hub transport queue path is excluded in antivirus scan.

Check the windows server and exchange server updated with latest service pack.

OK I understand about the Exchange folder, but where is the transport queue folder? We have a standard SBS2011 install.

I also noticed this event around the time the mail stopped arriving.

The transport process failed during message processing with the following call stack: Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Mime.MimeException: MIME content error: MIME map data is invalid (1).

I have identified that a service pack may be required for exchange 2010 and an upgrade on the avg to 2013. I will do this and update with any progress.
