Microsoft Office Licensing

Is there a way to convert a machine from KMS licensing to standard Licensing?  The machine is question already has office installed that was conencted to a KMS licensing server.  The person that is taking that machine has office professional plus with a standard license key.  When they try to use office it says that the product must be activated, they select Change Product Key, enter their key but it comes back and says the product key is in valid - enter a valid office key.  We checked the typing a number of times and it has been typed correctly, so the answer appears to be the licensing itself.

Does anyone know if there is a way to resolve this without uninstalling / reinstaling office?  There are a bunch of addins and linkages to installed software, and I am not sure I want to test the reinstallation and discover that we lose all of those.

Thanks in advance.

Please check the office version currently installed on the machine. If is it different than office professional plus then you will have to uninstall the current version in order to user professional plus.

OR

You can continue using the current version installed and get the activation code by calling Microsoft Activation support desk over the phone.

because it was licensed previously to the KSM key, you need to uninstall and reinstall Office, with the correct media and them use a key remover to strip the ksm key.  the system will then accept the correct key.  waht a nightmare.

none of the other responses solved the problem, I located the answer through trial and error and accepted my own answer as the only working one.
