Some Streaming Music from PC  Porr Quality

I have a 64 bit eMachine  and a 32 bit PC assembled from parts, both desktops with Win 7.
Pandora via Firefox frequently hiccups almost constantly on the 64 bit machine.  It is almost always fine quality on the 32 bit.  I've interchanged speakers and they aren't the problem.

How can I cure the problem on the eMachine?

I should add that I never have noticed the poor quality sound from other sources.  It doesn't always happen with Pandora on the eMachine so it's difficult to check quality from our sites/sources.  I don't think it ever happens from Win Media Player playing music from my hard drive.

Note that two different versions of Firefox are involved - 32 & 64.

You don't mention model or age for the emachine. They have been all over the map on quality and reliability over the years, and I don't think Acer even makes them anymore.  So my best quess would be that it is a quality issue with the emachine itself; and probably is not going to get better.

The eMachine model is EL1333G-03w. I bought it Oct. 28, 2010.

I tested it after posting this question by playing music from my hard drive.  The playback quality was fine.

Streaming music involves a lot more than just the local audio circuits and speakers. The external interface, memory management, and even the clocking circuits  are involved.

The EL1333G-03w is an old Walmart special.  The power supply is poor and unless there is a memory upgrade from the original 2gb it is pretty thin there.  Upgrading to the recommended 4gb for 64 bit puts additional load on the power supply.

It is just not a very good machine.  It was put together using low grade components so Walmart could sell it cheap. I doubt it is worth tearing apart and replacing the substandard parts, and upgrading to a stonger power supply might result in burning out some of the other junk in it.

Thanks for the guidance.  I'm not planning any hardware changes on the eMachine..

If you mean the router when you refer to the external interface, I have Verizon FIOS and a matching Verizon router.

Are there any memory management settings that I should check?  Or any software or methods for memory optimization that you would recommend?

The external interface I am referring to is the interface circuits in the emachine that connect it t the outside world the router is not a problem or you would be having a problem with the other computer as well..

The only thing I could recommend if you want to use it for music, is to not have anything else running on it.  It is really not a good box for what you want to do.
