Windows 8 side charm

Hello all,

I recently got a windows 8 laptop..I actually think the new os is quite good despite reading a lot of negative reviews. Its a Samsung and came bundled with samsungs version of the start button which makes the transition from windows 7 a lot easier. However, since my laptop installed some windows updates last night im having a problem with the charm on the right side of the scree..When I first got the laptop, if I wanted to use this charm I simply moved the cursor to the top right corner of the screen. No problems. However, since the update last night, the charm pops up sporadically. Even if I am nowhere near the top right corner, it will just pop up along with the date and time charm on the bottom left. Anyone have any similar experiences to this, or possible solutions I might try?

Thanks

1. What happens if you move to the bottom right?
2. Can you do the System Restore (Control Panel, System, System Protection Tab)?

You might try uninstalling Samsung's start button and using StarDock Start8. It is cheap and comes with support.  You could also try uninstalling the start button software and using Windows 8 jump lists while in the desktop.

Check windows updates again ...check for graphics card driver update . Can also check manufacturer website for any graphics card driver update.

1. The charms menu comes up..
2.Yes I can do this..

What makes you think the start button is the problem??It is not the start menu that pops up, it is the charms menu on the right hand side..

Will try this..
@oggiemc

What makes you think the start button is the problem?

Those programs are tightly bound into Windows. There have been changes since Samsung put out their offering. There is no guarantee that their offering will survive updates and future updates. Start8 is keeping up with revisions.

Keep us posted. .... Thinkpads_User

This solved the problem..And it was also the simplest solution as opposed to removing the Samsung start button or restoring the machine to previous state..
