Remote users not getting Active Directory password prompts

Experts,

I have several remote users that consistenly get locked out of our Active Directory network when their passwords expire (currently set to every 90 days).  Without knowing another solution, I've instructed them to place a reminder in Outlook prior to the 90 days to have them change it before the account "expires".  Any other recommendations/solutions?
