&nbsp;We have a current installation of SBS 2011 with Exchange 2010 and approximately 70 Mail enabled users.<br />

We are looking at alleviating the load on our SBS Server by migrating users over to Hosted Exchange. We don't want a major impact on operations so are looking to migrate a few users at a time. We have started reading up peoples guides on doing such a task, but are constantly coming across people stating ADFS is an absolute must, which given our size and number of servers this is out of the question.<br />

Could someone recommend a guide for us smaller SME's looking to switch to the cloud? We are only looking at switching the Exchange for now, and not looking at using Office 365 as a whole.

Migrating users to Office 365 Hosted Exchange from Exchange 2010

Office 365 is a group of software plus services subscriptions that provides productivity software and related services to its subscribers. Office 365 allows the use of Microsoft Office apps on Windows and OS X, provides storage space on Microsoft's cloud storage service OneDrive, and grants 60 Skype minutes per month. Office 365 includes e-mail and social networking services through hosted versions of Exchange Server, Skype for Business Server, SharePoint and Office Online, integration with Yammer, as well as access to the Office software. All of Office 365's components can be managed and configured through an online portal; users can be added manually, imported from a CSV file, or Office 365 can be set up for single sign-on with a local Active Directory using Active Directory Federation Services.

Small Business Server (SBS) is a line of server operating systems targeted at small businesses by bundling the operating system with a number of other Microsoft products that would normally need to be purchased or licensed separately. The most notable inclusions are Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint and ISA/TMG (Microsoft's firewall and proxy server).

Exchange is the server side of a collaborative application product that is part of the Microsoft Server infrastructure. Exchange's major features include email, calendaring, contacts and tasks, support for mobile and web-based access to information, and support for data storage.
