Critical Problem: Help setting up Speco D8WRS/D16WRS DVR for remote viewing
This is a critical problem. I’ve been working on it a day and a half.
I am trying to set up a Speco D8WRS/D16WRS DVR for remote viewing. I inherited this from the client who began to set it up but could never get remote viewing to work.
Here is a link to the user manual:
http://www.homecontrols.com/c.730785/homecontrols/content/graphics/products/pdfs/SPDxxRS_DxxWRS_User_Manual_v3-2_20111123.pdf
Here is the url of a video showing how to set the DVR up:
http://www.specotech.com/media/resource_files/6c8e3aa86ca032fd1c3aed860acd9774___RS_Network%20Setting.3gp
I have a no-ip.org account and will set up that connection latter. But for now the problem is in the internal connection between the router and the DVR. When I put in this address in the browser: http:\192.168.0.1:8080 it morphs into http:\192.168.0.1:8080/video.html and the browser page is blank. It should show me the DVR console. I have to get past this.
Here is some information:
Modem: SMC 8014W-G.
Router: Dlink Dir-601
ISP: Road Runner Cable
Computer: Lenovo ThinkCentre running XP Pro SP3.
The DVR’s software settings, from the DVR console:
Network type: Static
Ip address: 192.168.0.120
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Primary DNS: 192.168.0.1
Secondary DNS: 192.168.0.1
Network Port: 5445
Network Audio Port: 5446
Web Port: 8080
IPCONFIG /all output from computer:
Port forwarding defined in router:
Ping tests:
DhCP reservation list:
Again, at this level the problem seems to be the handshake between the router and the DVR program. The ping works and when I put in http:\192.168.0.1:8080 it doesn't say there's no such address. It just doesn't show me anything.
Thanks,
Al

What does http://192.168.0.120:8080 show?
ASKER
On IE it just says: connecting. This has gone on for three or four minutes now. In fact when I try to stop it trying to connect, it doesn't respond.
On Firefox it shows nothing. No errors, just a blank page. It does say in the tab: Web Client, whatever that means.
I'm going to download portqyui and see what it shows.

According to the manual it only works on IE. it should prompt for an ActiveX install.

It worked! Running IE8. Thanks. That was great. But we're not all the way there yet. Now I've got to set up no-ip.org so the client can get on and view the cameras.
I'll be back.
Thanks so much,
Al

Here is what I'm seeing when I put in http://192.168.0.120:8080
When I click "connect" I get this:
And here is the output.

error looks like you put in the wrong ID.
Are you still using "admin" with a password of "1111" or has this changed during the install?

I got on with the adminstrative password.
It gave me this console view:
I click on "connect" and that goes OK. Then I click on "Live". That highlights it for a moment but then immediately becomes unhighlighted. I assume that should show me the channel/camera that's highlighted. But the panel to the right stays black. In the above case it's channel 2.

It was a firmware issue. Upgraded the firmware and it works like it should.
