Picking a color from an image

I know there are color pickers that let you chose a color from a grid or a gradient, but I'd like to let users click on some image on the page  and pick up the color at that point. Can anyone think of a way that JavaScript can pull in  this information?

Thanks
Steve

Thanks!  The PHP solution looks like it will do the job.

I don't think I can use COLORZILLA because I have no control over the browser type the client is running.  This is a site builder, of sorts, and the idea with the color picker is to let someone set a div background to the color of, perhaps, the curtains in an image somewhere on the page. But I can't guarantee they'll be running Firefox.
