VPN Client install error

I am remotely connected to a Windows 7 Home Premium via Logmein. I need to get a VPN Client installed so the user can access his office from home. I have done this many times without issue, but this time when running the .msi it comes back with the error box stating 'Installation ended prematurely because of an error' not much help there. In the event viewer I get a Windows Installer error just stating the installation operation failed.
I have turned off the firewall and even the uac but still I cannot install. I have cleared the temp folder and gave full control to System and user account I am using.

Any help will be appreciated.

Unless you can get a grip of the installer log, you'll doomed. In such cases the first I try is to run Process Monitor from www.sysinternals.com with a filter of "Image name", "contains", ".msi", and see what is reported just before the message appears. You should also get the path of the installer log file that way.

Try connecting via remote destkop or windows assitance ...logmein might be creating a conflict for the installation.

Try it.

Put the computer in clean boot mode apart from logmein.

Clean boot process

Start-type - msconfig- click on startup tab- click disable all...then click services tab- put a check on hide all microsoft services ...and then click disable all....click ok and then restart the computer in normal mode.

If able to install then enable all startup and services ...reboot pc.

Launch services.msc  and make sure windows installer service is started and set automatic.

Also did u try this

I hope u have uninstall all antivirus from that system..reboot and then

Install subinacl

after installing download reset.cmd

save the reset.cmd as a batch file and then run it as admin.

This will reset security settings...and i hope the user has admin rights to install software.

I followed all the instructions and ran as admin, it ran and stated a large amount had been modified and a much smaller number had failed.
Tried the install again and grrrr same error.

Setup file might be corrupted. Did u try to copy the setup file on your computer and then try installing it.

Rename C:\Temp to old

Create temp admin account in control panel...reboot ..login under the temp account and then try installing the software.

Did u check Base Filtering Engine service

I hope after running subinacl ...u rebooted the system and then tried installing.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions, I ran out of time and as this was a fairly new laptop with no personal data, I used factory reset and installed the vpn client without issue...jeez.
