I know its possible to hide the drive in My Computer, but I am after disabling the opening of the drive altogether (as if it has no power).<br />

I know its a strange question, but these laptops are for a school environment, and the client has asked if this is at all possible to reduce vandalism/accidental damage.<br />

Disable DVD Drive on HP Probook 4535s??

A laptop or notebook is a portable personal computer with a clamshell form factor, suitable for mobile use.
