I think the same indexing settings apply to Windows 8. Use Control Panel on the Desktop to get into Indexing Options. The screens in the link should be there. Still in Control Panel go to Programs and Features, Windows Features to see the other settings.

I had a look at that link but it looks like Win 7.
Im setting up a win 8 to have a look at it for the first time very soon.

My working system is Windows 7 (which is where the screen shots came from), but I have looked at my Windows 8 system and it seems to be very much the same in this regard.
