search .pst files

i exported a folder with 1000s of emails into a .pst file. i then deleted the folder from outlook. if i were to open the PST file from outlook 2010 (file, open, open pst), will i be able to search those emails in that .pst ?

Once you add it in to Outlook by default yes you will be able to.

if you aren't then open indexing options under control panel and make sure Outlook is listed.  If you click modify you will be able to expand Outlook and make sure archives are checked.

you can use the import function to use the mails again

I want it searchable.  I just don't want it part of my exchange live production.

what does the import feature do? does it put back into production?
