Hi,

i have a server where I think one of the hard disks is on it's way out.

I have checked with the onboard SAS Raid controller and it reports each disk as being healthy.

However periodically the hard disk have intense activity which slows the server to crawling pace.

Are there any utilities out there whereby I can check the integrity of the disks to make sure if there is one on it's way out I can replace it now?

You can only reliably test the disks if you remove them from the server and connect them to a non-RAID controller, and then use the diagnostic utility of your HD manufacturer to scan them.
