This may help.

Lotus Notes MailMan Error: Invalid Pointer: When sending a document as an attachment from a 3rd party program such as MS Office or Adobe Acrobat, Lotus Notes may show a pop up error: "Invalid Pointer"

It worked!! After I made sure lotus notes was set as the default email email program.
