Hi Experts,

I have a Server 2012 machine with Remote Desktop Services and it works fine locally and when using Remote Desktop Web Access on the local network.

However, when accessing it over the Internet, you can log on to RD Web Access fine, but when running the RemoteApp you get the message:

RemoteApp Disconnected The remote computer could not be found. Please contact your helpdesk about this error.

Looking at the cert, i see the LOCAL server name, and off course external users wont be able to resolve a internal domain computer name.

What can i do to solve this problem?

PS: Dont want to use VPN.

You could use a Remote Desktop Gateway, and externally signed certificate, say from verisign thwarte or comodo

Technet: Make RemoteApp Programs Available from the Internet

Technet: Configure Remote Desktop Gateway Settings

Make sure you set the FQDN of the gateway server to the FQDN you registered.

I.E, Gateway.domain.com, not to gateway.domain.local
And also register a SSL certificate for this FQDN if you haven't already

Nothing ever in the clear!

This technical paper will help you implement VMware’s VM encryption as well as implement Veeam encryption which together will achieve the nothing ever in the clear goal. If a bad guy steals VMs, backups or traffic they get nothing.

I'm having a similar problem. Error I get is

"Unable to connect to remote PC. Please provide the fully-qualified name or the IP address of the remote PC, and then try again".

Remote Desktop Gateway works fine. I can access LAN host over the WAN no pronblem. But RemoteApp doesn't work over WAN.

Same problem for me. RD Gateway works fine. RemoteAPP does not. Can't seem to find clear instruction.
