Share Point 2010 Search not working

Recently my search function stopped working on my Share Point 2010 environment. the crawls go on forever with no successful files crawled.

Under my search administration i do see in Index Partition that my Query Component is not responding. what i did was mirror it to create a new one then i deleted the old one. but this still did not solve my problem.

recently we changed the domain admin password and i made sure to update the credentials in the Search Administration screen. it was around this time that it stopped working so is there a place where i forgot to update the new credentials?

On the Search Admin page is where you update the crawl account, not the search service account.  Go into Central Admin - Security - Managed Accounts.  Update it here.  Make sure you use the "existing password" option.
