Recently my search function stopped working on my Share Point 2010 environment. the crawls go on forever with no successful files crawled.

Under my search administration i do see in Index Partition that my Query Component is not responding. what i did was mirror it to create a new one then i deleted the old one. but this still did not solve my problem.

recently we changed the domain admin password and i made sure to update the credentials in the Search Administration screen. it was around this time that it stopped working so is there a place where i forgot to update the new credentials?

On the Search Admin page is where you update the crawl account, not the search service account.  Go into Central Admin - Security - Managed Accounts.  Update it here.  Make sure you use the "existing password" option.
