Ultimately I am looking to run two PS commands to get and set EWS authentication on Exchange 2010.  I think I found what is needed, but wanted some verification.

Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity EWS(default Web site)

Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity Contoso\EWS(default Web site) -BasicAuthentication $true
