Is there any way to send a message to a google voice number from an email account.

For example.  Verizon wireless allows this by sending a message to yourcellularnumber@vtext.com

below is what i did when i needed to do something simmilar using vb6, might help.

what i have done is used AT commands to communicate to phone connected via USB to send a text by reading the phone number and message from the emails in the box.

for example:

Public Function SendSMS(ByVal TelNo As String) _
As String

'Dim strTelNo As String
Dim strMsg As String
'Me.Hide

    strTelNo = TelNo
    strMsg = "Thanks for your Bill payment" & vbCrLf & "Payments Team"

    MSComm1.CommPort = 15 ' Com4 Port
    MSComm1.Settings = "9600,n,8,1"
    MSComm1.InputLen = 0
    MSComm1.PortOpen = True
    MSComm1.Output = "AT" & Chr$(13) & Chr(10)
    Call Sleep(1000)
    MSComm1.Output = "AT+CMGF=1" & Chr$(13) & Chr(10)
    Call Sleep(1000)
    MSComm1.Output = "AT+CMGS=" & Chr$(34) & strTelNo & Chr$(34) & Chr(13) & Chr(10)
    Call Sleep(1000)
    MSComm1.Output = strMsg & Chr(26)
    Call Sleep(1000)
    MSComm1.PortOpen = False
    Call Sleep(4000)
    'Call Unload(Me)

End Function

that is not a option at this time.  You can send a Gmail to your Google Number and have it appear as a GV SMS text message.

Go to GV settings > Voicemail & SMS tab : enable Forward SMS messages to my email (must be a Gmail address) > Save

Send a text message from your mobile phone to your Google number.

Go to your gmail address that was in your settings above > open the gmail > click on Show Details > copy the long gmail address that ends in @txt.voice.google.com > add it to your Gmail contacts for yourself.

You can either reply to this gmail message or send a new gmail to this odd looking address. However, You cannot send it from another email provider (e.g. yahoo) at this time.

Note: When you reply or send gmail to your Google number, anything in the subject line will not appear in your GV sms text message, and a line in the body of the message cannot be broken with a new line space or by typing enter for a new paragraph.
