Crystal Reporting Software Advice

Hey Experts,

I've been a long time user of Crystal Reports, but I've just started doing stuff on the side.

I was wondering, as a developer of reports, dashboards etc, what would be the best SAP crystal reports package to get?  Most of the items I've used have been part of a larger software solution.

The version you need may get dictated by the clients you find.

I have done free-lance report development for about 6 years now and have used CR7, 8, 9, XI, and 2008.

You can still get CR XI and 2008

The current version is CR2011.

You also need to consider the .Net versions that are included with Visual Studio.
The current versions are
CR For VS2010 http://scn.sap.com/people/coy.yonce/blog/2010/11/12/crystal-reports-for-visual-studio-2010-production-release-now-available

CR For VS2012

I found it generally easier to use a VPN and work with the client's version.

One thing to consider is  CR XI, CR2008, and CR2011 can be used in CR 9 and up applications.  You just have to avoid using the new features added in those versions.

This is perhaps a little dated but it shows versions in use based on an informal survey
