name translation: could not fine the name or insufficient right to see the name

Hi Experts,

I have set up a new user on active directory, and I am trying to add this user to the local admin group on a laptop which sits in our main office. When I try to add the user to the admin group I can see the user in the address book and select them. But when i click ok i get the following error: name translation: could not fine the name or insufficient right to see the name. I am logged onto the pc as the administrator which had local right already so I cannot work out why i am geting this error.

Any help would be appreciated.

For anyone interested in this issues I seem to have fixed it.

It appears that the workstation had not correctly joined the domain so the error of not being able to process the object with the users account makes sense now. I noticed that the computer was not showing up in the Computers OU. So i removed the computer from the domain, i also renamed the machine just to make sure i was not using a computer name that already existed. I also made sure all current windows updates were installed correctly. I wanted to make sure i had all fixes in place as the operating system is window 8 Pro and it is quite new.   Once all that was done i rejoined the computer to the domain, i made sure i could see it in the computers OU then retried to add the domain user to the local administrators group on the computer and hey presto it worked.

Very strange issue as i have performed this operation hundreds of times before and not had a problem.
