A creative is an advert from the company you are representing.
It can be anything from example words to use, or a special offer, or sales pitch.
More often today it is in the form of a ready done advert graphic.

So if you have a website about food and you have a deal with a restaurant company where each sale you send them earns you a certain amount of money - they could then offer a 'creative' which would be a 1 inch square banner image where their special offer is advertised.  If people click on this you get paid (maybe for the click or maybe for the sale).

Sometimes they use a different rate for their payments to you for creatives and sometimes they just offer them to help both of you as it drives more sales

Do all affiliates need different creatives.
How do the links, tags, etc created with the creatives work.

I have one affiliate that has many sub-affiliates, for a lack of a better name. When a customer clicks on their creative on their site they are taken to our store. The customer need to be able to choose which sub-affiliate the funds go to.

I so appreciate your help and patience!

>>> Do all affiliates need different creatives.
Yes.  Not only would it be a bit silly to have both a restaurant and a car shop using the same advert material - but they also link directly to the site that is advertising (or better still directly to a product within that site)

This totally depends on the system.  The link or tag will probably be for a direct link to an item - these would be used in your site inside text.  So say you have a food site and you are giving a recipe.  You could use direct links from the food shop advertising company - they might have the ability to create links based on each product so each time you mention 'lemon' it could be linked to a shop to buy it.

No idea on this - you normally do not give the 'customer' (by this I am talking about the web site browser) options like this.  Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are asking.

Here's what I need.

A church has several mission teams going to different places at different times. They want the program to let buyers/contributors choose the team to get the money. It is all under the one church account, but each team is a different account under the church account.

This is driving me crazy trying to figure out how to make this work like they want it.

Some programs allow you to tag your own parameter onto the URL and then that gets reported back to you.  It varies (or maybe doesn't even exist) in each system.

An example of what I am talking about -

Say you link to
www.example.com/sale?item=1&aff=your_ref

They might allow a string like :
www.example.com/sale?item=1&aff=your_ref&ref=team_1

Read the notes on the program and see what they allow.
