We have a Windows 2008R2 domain. Forrest and Domain Levels are also Windows Server 2008 R2.

We are planning to install Lync Server 2013 into our environment on a Windows 2012 Server. One of the requirements for Lync Server is a public key infrastructure so we will need to install Active Directory Certificate Services.

For this Lync Server deployment, does the Active Directory Certificate Services need to be installed on a Domain Controller or can it be installed on another Windows 2008R2 server?

Thanks,
mokn
