Disable replication for Exchange 2010 Schema / Ad Preparations?

We are required to perform Perform AD Preparations for Exchange 365, and need to prepare schema, AD etc for Ex2010:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh852492.aspx

Common practice for schema preparations is to Disable AD replication to / from Schema master (and disable network connection)..
If we run the Ex2010 setup /PrepareAD, this action will perform all the operations /ps, /p, /pd -i.e. prepare schema, AD, and domain.
In this situation is it still appropriate to disable replication on shema master?
(NB. Currently, Schema master (2008R2 STD) holds all other FSMO roles as well. Domain / Forest functional level is windows 2003)

disabling replication is not longer required even no longer advised

o      Microsoft recommends against disabling replication on the schema master.

Thanks for your reply..
Yes I read that article too, and intially thought that a 'test environment that reasonably reflects the production environment' i a tall order.. We have Vware SRM but DC replica is not supported...
That leaves only viable option as a full domain / forest recovery..
