What is Difference of setting AAA on between router and switch

What is difference of setting AAA on between router and switch ? If AAA is setup on switch, we can use dot1x. Is there any other difference ? Thanks

AAA allows both a router and a switch to have a more granular approach to authentication, authorization, and accounting.

Once AAA is configured it can be used for a variety of things, dot1x, RADIUS authentication, TACACS+, VPN authentication, even for a VoIP calling card set up.

It's just the underlying layer to a more complex authentication and authorization model.
