We have an Exchange 2010 environment (Single server - on premise) which up to now has been working smoothly.  When trying to check Message Tracking for a user who reported missing email I received this error in the browser:

What version of Exchange is this? Exchange 2010 with what service pack and rollup?
Have you tried to reset the ecp virtual directory? On Exchange 2010 SP2 there is a wizard for doing that in EMC.

It's 2010 SP2 with no rollup installed (avoided it so far because of the number of problems I had to chase down after SP2 install).

But recreating the ECP virtual directory worked for me.  Completely slipped my mind while I was focusing on looking for it to be a huge problem.  Thanks for pointing me back in the right direction.

I would suggest installing a service pack though. Exchange 2010 RTM was barely finished, it wasn't really usable until SP1.
