Alternative for Office 2010 recent documents

Hi,

I work in a company where we use thin clients and terminal servers (Windows 2008). The administrators turned of the recent documents list in my start menu and in excel and word. They say its necessary to avoid slowness.

Is there an alternative? Like a little tool that keeps a list of recently used office documents, so i can quickly start them. I work with a lot of different document every day, in lots of different folders.

Let's say a software exists which does that...
I believe that you won't be able to install it because of user's permission limitations

The best way is to ask directly from your IT admin, to exclude your account from that specific policy

Explanation:
We have to make a new rule to exclude this user from our previous rule... bla bla bla, which means... more unnecessary mouse clicks for us (it dept)

If they do not agree ask it from your superior
