Cannot Activate Server 2012 Error: 0x8007007B "The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect”

After installing Server 2012 and click the Activate Windows button, the error is returned:

Error: 0x8007007B
"The file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect”

and if you run slui to display the error text what do you get?

What type of installation key do you have MAK, KMS, Volume, Retail, OEM?
Check out this guide for Win7. The same should apply to the server as well.
