Outlook 2010 – Double up appointments in Calendar

One of our institution's users has a Calendar problem in Outlook 2010 that I am unable to figure out.
The appointment calendar that the user has is in the pink calendar is showing double up and only on that particular calendar.

The double up is on grey colour.

Is your user synchronizing their mailbox with a smartphone, or some other mobile app? Most of these double ups (other than imports of PST files) happen, when sync is configured wrongly. Usually it should be setup to let the mailbox "win" during sync which in return should prevent duplicates.
