mediawiki short URLs

Hello,

We're attempting mediawiki short urls.

Our current site is at

www.nlpwiki(dot)org/wiki/wiki/Main_Page

Mediawiki is installed in the folder "wiki"

How do we get the home page to just be at

nlpwiki(dot)org

What do you mean? My friend installed mediawiki for us. Do I need to chmod a folder using filezilla?

Yes, current error.message shows, root folder doesn't have permission to public users.

how do you change the root folder's permissions using filezilla?

I know how to change a subdirectory's file permissions, but how do you change the root itself? I right click on the root folder and it's set to xxx and I can't change it. We're on shared hosting.

Im talking about the web root which will normally have index.php kind of file.
Please use correct user to change to rights.

The directory that has the index.php file in it is already chmoded to 755. It's the /wiki directory

The root folder has something on it now.

The wiki is at www.nlpwiki.org/wiki

My short URLs aren't working

If you navigate to

www.nlpwiki.org/wiki

it takes you to this URL:

http://nlpwiki.org/wiki/wiki/Main_Page

Note "wiki" shows up twice

Let me know if you need to look at locasettings.php or htaccess.
