Outlook won't send email, but no errors

I recently started having a problem with Outlook.  When I compose a new message it sits in the outbox, but I don't get any errors when I do a send a receive.  I have created a new profile, repaired the pst file.  When I watch the mail server log it never attempts to send the email.

I would try to check the following options (potential causes for error):

1) You have an add-in that marks items read if you view the Outbox.

2) Wrong password or not authenticating properly with the mail server (SSL, TLS, ports?)

3) Outlook or the mail server are offline.

4) You have no default email account set.

5) Using a program that accesses pst or ost data, such as Desktop Search, Lync, etc.

6) An antispam or antivirus scanner is scanning outgoing mail and not sending.

7) Go to File > Options then advanced on the right hand side, first see if the box is ticked for "Send immediately when connected", then click the "Send and Receive" button, down at the bottom under "When outlook is offline" is the box ticked for "Include this group in Send/Receive".

8) Are you using auto complete (NK2 files)? Maybe the auto complete entry used in the To: field is invalid?

It was antivirus suite from mcafee.  Had to uninstall and reinstall it.  That fixed it
