I need Duel Pick List controls for web application

Hi everyone,

I have attached some web user controls that are being used on several aspx pages.  The application is working fine, but we need to speed up the Movement.ascx user control page by re-writing it to use a duel pick list control with two columns along with a list control.

Currently the Movement.ascx page is allowing data to be selected, dragged and Dropped to Inmate Group Box1, Inmate Group Box 2, and Holding Bin based on selections made with the drop down boxes above each of the boxes.  Let me explain what we are doing with this.

The user will select a hyperlink, "Move an Inmate". After selecting, "Move an Inmate", a stored procedure is executed which pulls all inmates awaiting movement which shows in inmate Group box 1 and 2.  These inmates are currently dragged and dropped to Box 1 and Box 2 and in a holding bin which holds lnmates awaiting a bed based on their danger security level.

A selection is made by the user with a drop down above each box.  The user is selecting a group of beds which are available and  to place inmates in. On Box 1, the Inmate Group Box 1, the user selects all available beds on the drop down which executes a stored procedure which looks at the database and determines which beds are available.  Blank slots will appear  A selection can be made for available beds on Inmate Group Box 2 as as well which will allow dragging and dropping an inmate in the slots on Box 1 or Box 2or in the holding bin.

We want to do away with the drag and drop feature and use an event button to move the inmates to box 2 from box1 or from the holding bin to either box.  Please review  and see my User Conrols attached.

My movement.ascx user control page attached.  I need to re-write this page having a button in between the two boxes which will move the selected inmate after a selection is  made for the inmate with the mouse.  I need the Html coding and java script to achieve this objective.

There is a open source control that you can use

Yes, Code Cruiser I pulled up this one last week.  I have been looking at it.
I just do not know if I can keep the same functionality that we have if we use this example.

What We have are Inmate records with a ID#, Name, Image Picture
                                                                            Bed#, Institution, Security Level ID
                                                                            Incarseration Date,  Race, Gender

All inmates will appear with these three rows for each record which are in a tabular format.
Currently, we can click on the three rowed record and move and Drag around.  We want to get away from this by just clciking on it and selecting a ADD Event Button with arrow to do the
insertion for beds pulled that are available to move them in.

Maybe a List Control would work better or a GridView with each row and have a select which can be clicked which moves them.  I do not know if images can be stored in a gridview.  Can they?

ANy ideas are helpful.

Yes images can be displayed in gridview. You can also use a DataList. That control can give you an idea of how to implement it yourself.

CodeCruiser,

Can an image be used in the PickList control?  If not, the DataList appears to have what I might have to  use.

You mean that control I linked? I am not sure but I think not.
