What changed in the election process VMWare ESX 4.1 to 5?

Hi,

Please advise what changed in the election process VMWare ESX 4.1 to 5.
I understood that selection process of master changed so problem doesn't exist anymore in small clusters (4 or 5 ESX-es) when you bring 2 ESX-es in maintenance
mode the cluster doesn't find master and HA has troubles. Solution in this case is disabling HA then re-enabling.

Hope this question is clear.

Please advise.
