which one is best for saving documents.

Hello,

you have been answering SharePoint questions here for several years and you have a Master certificate in the SharePoint TA. I assume that you work with SharePoint and that the links you post in your answers are not just the first hits from a web search.

With this in mind, it looks as if you know what SharePoint is and what it does, so I won't spend any time on that.

Google docs is just a free service offering a few productivity tools like word processing and spreadsheeting, online storage and sharing features.

SharePoint is much more than that. Think workflows, content types, business logic, metadata, web parts, configurable user interface, etc. SharePoint is not free. Even the free versions require infrastructure that needs to be in place.

Yes, I'm aware of that. And my answer relates to that. A SharePoint document library is more than just a place to save files online. With a SharePoint document library you can apply workflows, content types, business logic, metadata, web parts, configurable user interface, etc. Oh, and I forgot records management.
