3 TB HDD and the GPT formating Issue

Recently I bought 2 new HDD 3TB:
1 Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB
1 Seagate Barracuda 3TB
Those drive uses 4K clusters.
I'm currently using them to backup my files with an External Enclosure. However, even after reading a lot of forum on the subject, I'm still not able to find any solution to my problem.
When I'm backing files from one of my computer with an HDD enclosure and I try to connect the disk to an other computer, the hard drive is showed in the Disk Management but not initialize. When I initialize it, it shows no partition and it ask to be formatted. I take the HDD without formatting and put it back to the Original computer, and everything is there. It does the same with my other HDD but it appears initialized with a RAW partition on it. My question here is why it does that? is it because there's a special signature on the formating?(if so, that's not very usefull if a system fails). Does it has something to do with BIO and UEFI? I just don't understand the usage of a backup drive if you can't use them on multiple computers.

What OS?

maybe one pc has a bios for mbr disks, and the other has uefi bios - check that
check also what partition the external disk has - mbr or GPT
Tell us the OS versions on both computers you plug this drive to.

It's Server 2008 R2 and the two computers are built the same.
The partition is indeed a GPT one because I wan't to use the total space available on each drives
Copy out the data from the drive and format it on the machine which sees the drive as raw. Then disconnect and connect to the other machine. Does it see again as raw?
