morning rancy,
yes i realise its time to move ahead to either win 2008 or 2012. at the moment i only have a dell 1950 with 2 hdd'/2 psu's
the sp2 i have ive had for ages and not aware of this sp2 august rollup as sometime most time ive just installed the sp2 ive saved on server and when i did use wsus in the passed im not even sure if it detected the aug sp2 as totally unaware, but usually i would always install sp2 i had saved from some years ago.
can i download this sp2 ?
yes windows 2003 - ends jul 2015
xp end 2014
i was told about that!!
as all my machines are 32bit i wanted to keep them for training purposes and wanted to download all 'updates' individually so that i can use them again and again, even after microsoft stopping windows 2003 updates & xp altogether, meaning i would be left with just the service packs!!
what about the win 2003 evaluations which only last 15 days or so, but can be extended to 120 days before purchased, will this be stopped as well ?

i only no of exchange 2010 but not looked into that at all and not even sure if this is an improvement on exchange 2003. as for exchange 2013 thanks for this extra knowledge.
1. not sure if i understand 'version of store.exe & mad.exe ?
2. i only know about downloading updates via windows update manually or auto as the only way ?
3. im not sure if 'wsus' allow updates to be download manually and saved ?
4. w2k3 installs for 15 days and then if i click to extend evaluation for example i get 120 days in total but obviously not registering, but ive had these original discs since 2003, so i was concerned will there be a time that microsoft will stop the evaluation and if so i would like to know how to extend if this happens, at least until i change from 32 bit to 64 bit ?

2. ive never known or seen how individual downloads can just be downloaded to a pc/server in say a folder somewhere and installed later if thats what you mean ?
4. an evaluation disc after 15 days prompts to activate without registering, automatically giving me 120 days so nothing to copy as this is done over the internet as my 'os' detects with microsoft that im using an evaluation copy.

hi rancy, thanks for those links ive saved them and just been looking!
q1. exchange 2003 - august 2008 states post sp2 but the link you sent is dated: 19 oct 2005 as ive always got some what confused with 'post' and not sure if say an old version of sp2 is already installed, does the ms download center detect and overwrite with presumably a later updated sp2 version ?
in the passed ive been aware of this but basically detected updates and just downloaded them so not really sure!

1. yes ive got to set backup my 'wsus server', but i was wondering if i have not entirely configured exchange, would 'wsus' actually detect all updates in advance totally ?
2. i thought so, so sp2 is the only one..!! good... i had read somewhere that mentioned sp3 so had to just check!!
q1. as 2003 products will stop in 2015, i wanted to know how to download all updates besides sp1 & sp2 and keep on my harddrive so when i use for practical test i have all the updates required ?
appreciated.
