What's the difference between a blog and a website?

You can think of a blog as a website where you put in comments about things.  Almost like a diary, but it does not necessary have to be about your life.

Could be  your opinion on current world or local events, could be your review about different products, or anything else you would like to write about.

The lines are getting muddy to the difference.  Wordpress did start out as blogging software and now is used to build entire websites.  

Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla and the likes are designed to allow you to add content on your own without having to code although you do need to be a little technically inclined.  Also, if you have a static site and try and post regular content manually that needs to be linked to other posts, it can be very time consuming so online software like Wordpress is built on a database that does all of this for you.  There are ready made templates you can get for free or purchase to give you a nice look although they tend to look like templates.  

Depending on what you are doing, I think full websites are less important and simply getting articles out on your site and social media is all you need.

All blogs are websites, but all websites are not blogs. This is because to be a blog it has to be a web log and thus be housed on a website. Websites though can have a multitude of other functions other than hosting the blog.
