AJAX Supplied Images working in Firefox but IE (and yes! I have to use IE)
I'm using the following solution to get images through ajax and display them in a table. Â (i use coldfusion as the server tech... but shouldn't matter)
I set the images like so (toBase64 is a CF function)
myVar = '<img
      src="data:image/*;base64,#
      height="20"/>'
And put the myVars in JSON to return to the calling page. In firefox works fine, however in IE the images show up as the little X's in a box.... Doe IE (8 or 9) have problems with base64?

Tried the mime types: image/x-png, image/png.... still no dice :(
Largest image is 12K, most are 6K.... so does not seem to be a size issue. Â Any other thoughts?

So I'm just tyring it on a test page and getting the same results:
The datauri image does not work correctly. Â The image to browser does. Â Looking at the link @robert_shutt sent, IE 8 and 9 should support this type of URI. Â So not sure why it is not. Â Any variances I can try?.... I also tred image/x-png with no success.

For the above source.... the first one does not work. Â The second does.

That's strange, it displays fine for me in IE8. Can you put it in a test page somewhere I can access it to test?

Whoops. Â Had a * in there. Â This works!
Support for Data URIs in IE is partial, your problem here may be the 32K limit. Also I hadn't seen it used with mime type "image/*" before but maybe that's no issue. If your images are not too big, try specifying the actual type.
