Server 2003, DNS, DHCP question
Hello,
I am running server 2003 but have my router doing the DHCP (I was finding that the DHCP on the server had been giving me issues as of lately so I decided to switch it).
In any event, I know that for proper name resolution via active directory the DNS of the server should be used by the workstations, this address is 192.168.16.2. So I manually set this address as the DNS on my 3 or so local workstations with the router at 192.168.16.1 performing DHCP.
I notice now that now when I connect via VPN to my server that I am being assigned some 169.252... address and thus cannot access the internet. I used ipconfig to determine this... (I do connect to exchange via outlook though).
How do I tell my server to use my router for DHCP and still use 192.168.16.2 (the server) for DNS on incoming VPN connections?
Or perhaps there is a more efficient way to relay to another DHCP server without having to mess around with DNS?
Thanks for the help!

wow... that was extremely confusing! LOL
I your Windows 2003 set setup as a VPN server? I'm it you need to setup a DHCP relay on the server inorder to forward DHCP request to your router???
