2008r2, corrupt drivers, unable to reinstall
Our antivirus system picked up a false positive and moved some sys files out of c:\windows\system32\driver s and c:\windows\system32\driver store\file repository
We were able to find what was quarantined and move the files back, thus solving our crashing problem.
Issue that we have now is it is missing a wide variety of drivers and are unable to reinstall these drivers. (NIC, processor, DVD drive, monitor, etc.) Contacted the AV company and all they can state is moving the files back should have resolved the issue.
Servers are both running 2008R2 with sp1. Have run a chkdsk and sfc /scannow. I can be more specific with the sys files moved, but as I stated, we moved them back to where they were pulled from.

Is the server a DC or essential server in some other way? Is the OS partitioned? If so make sure all the non-Windows files are saved or move them somewhere else. Then re-install Window, otherwise you are going to have to do a lot of messing around.

One of the servers is a DC. One is not. Any suggestions for the one that is a DC.
Go through each driver from device manager and select update driver (might have to do from safe mode). Then select "have disk" - point it to the srvr 2008 install disk, there should be a drivers folder. Could also point to good sys32 folder on the network (once the other one is restored and you have a working NIC).

This was the solution. It was much better than rebuilding and restoring.
