Mounting DVD on OSX requires username and password
When the user inserts a DVD into the drive, it asks for a username and password. If the user (normal non-admin) enters their username and password, it rejects that. If I enter the admin username and password, it works fine and OSX will mount the DVD but later won't work again after it forgets those cached credentials.
I've tried adjusting the permissions on the "volumes" folder, but I'm a little afraid to do too much on that because the user has mounted network shares too. Wouldn't want the wrong permissions to propagate down. Any ideas?
The affected version is 10.7.5
Thanks, -S

I'd say that's part of the problem because I can't tell if manage preferences are what's causing I'm seeing.
Are you in a managed environment ?
ASKER
I am. I set up the managed prefs, bit I'be removed that machine from the group where I've configured managed settings.
it feels like the settings are sticking anyway. is there a way to find out?

I'll check that out anyway and be in touch shortly.
Does this happen for more than one machine? More than one user? Are these "managed" computers?
